Figure 2 – The circuit diagram of Figure 1 is deceptively simple because real-world components present internal and parasitic resistances, inductances, and capacitances, so the circuit behavior is much more complex than it seems. The effect of these real-world non-linearities and parasitics is dramatically exacerbated as the voltage rises, desired risetime falls, and pulse duration becomes very short. This figure presents a sample of the parasitics and non-linearities that have to be considered for a 2-capacitor Marx generator.
